FLOORHOLLER COMMUNITY GUIDELINES
Version 2026-10-27. Last updated October 27, 2026.
FLOORHOLLER is a public place to ask, say, and argue. These guidelines explain what is welcome and how the site keeps it that way. Everything you post, including your username, is public.
- Speak Freely: Share opinions, ask uncomfortable questions, and challenge ideas. People do not have to agree.
- Keep It Public: All conversations happen in public. There are no private messaging features or private groups.
- Debate Without Threats: Strong disagreements are welcome. Threats, intimidation, targeted harassment, and encouragement or coordination of violence are prohibited.
- Respect Privacy: Do not publish another person's sensitive private information.
- No Spam: No scams, automated spam, repetitive promotional messages, or attempts to manipulate discussions.
- Keep It Legal: Do not use FLOORHOLLER to facilitate unlawful activity or violate others' rights.
- Moderation: FLOORHOLLER reserves the right to remove content and temporarily or permanently restrict accounts that violate its rules.
- User Responsibility: Users are responsible for their own submissions. Their opinions do not necessarily represent FLOORHOLLER.
How posting works
Anyone can read. To post, reply, vote or report, sign in with Google and choose a public username. A thread can be a question or a statement. Titles can be up to 200 characters, optional context up to 600, and replies up to 200. Replies can answer other replies, and on statements you can mark where you stand: agree, disagree, or it depends.
Text only. FLOORHOLLER does not allow images, GIFs, video, audio or file attachments, and it does not show embedded or previewed media. You can link to an article or source (subject to the link rules below) and describe what it shows in words. Links appear as plain text.
To keep the floor usable, there are limits on how fast and how often one account can post. Accounts in their first 24 hours have tighter limits and cannot add links yet. Link shorteners are not allowed, and posting the exact same message twice is refused. We do not remove opinions because they are unpopular or controversial. These limits look at behavior, not viewpoint.
If the site is under attack or something serious is happening, new threads or replies may be paused for a while. Everything stays readable while that happens.
Reporting and moderation
FLOORHOLLER is moderated by one administrator, who posts publicly as Roscoe. Anyone signed in can report a thread or reply and say why. The administrator reviews reports and can remove content immediately, with or without a report. Removed content disappears from the feed, the thread, and search listings. Authors can delete their own threads and replies at any time. Reports are private: the person reported is not told who reported them.
Automatic hiding. To protect people while the administrator is away, content can be hidden from public view, without being deleted, in three situations: when many different accounts report it (10 unless the administrator has changed that), when an established account reports it as a threat or call for violence, and when automated screening judges that a new post looks like a credible threat or exposes someone's private information. Hidden content shows a neutral notice, "This content is temporarily unavailable pending moderator review," until the administrator either restores it or removes it. Automated tools make mistakes. If your post was hidden by mistake it will be restored. Reporting something only because you disagree with it, or organizing others to report, is not allowed and can lead to restrictions on the accounts doing it.
Accounts that break these guidelines can be suspended for a set time or banned. You are shown the reason and, for a suspension, the exact time it ends in your own time zone. A restriction applies to your Google account, not to your username, so a new username does not lift it. Every administrator action is recorded in a private history, and content an administrator hides or removes is kept in the private moderation history so decisions can be reviewed. If you think a decision was a mistake, write to floorholler@gmail.com.
To report copyright infringement, someone's private information, possible defamation or a safety concern, use the content and legal request form. If someone is in immediate danger, call 911 first.
Your account and privacy
You sign in using a Google account. Google sign-in does not verify a person's real-world identity. Your Google name, email address and photo are never shown to others and are not saved with your posts. FLOORHOLLER does not store IP addresses with your posts or in its database, and its limits apply per account, never per IP address (our hosting providers still receive IP addresses as described in the Privacy Policy). The Privacy Policy explains exactly what is stored and what is not deleted automatically, and the Terms of Service describe your responsibilities. FLOORHOLLER has no private messages, friend lists, followers, or profile pages.
THE FLOOR IS YOURS. MAKE IT COUNT.
